I want to talk about something that can make a huge impact on your life. If you are anything like me you have a to do list a mile long everyday. It can stress me out and make me really sad if I don’t get everything done. Some days, like days where I am already feeling down, this can be even worse because I don’t have the motivation to do anything. That’s where finding small victories comes into play. I try to find small victories/wins everyday to keep me in a more positive mindset.
Here are some small victories I like to be proud of on days when I am not feeling the best.
- Getting out of bed. This is huge. Somedays it’s so hard to get out of bed for me and people who struggle with depression. On these days I give myself a pat on the back if I make it out of bed. Even if I do nothing else productive I did that.
- Getting dressed and putting on real clothes. I work from home and go to school from home so there is no need for me to get out of my pajamas if I don’t have anywhere to go. That being said, not changing my clothes can not only affect my mood but also my productivity. Putting on real clothes helps me to get in the mindset of work and school. I make it a point to put on something other than my pajamas everyday so I can say “hey I put on real clothes today, that’s a success.”
- Taking a shower. I hate showers. I think they are a waste of time. If I could never shower again that would be great. But alas that’s not the case. So I count it as a victory when I shower.
- Drinking water and taking my supplements. Water is so important to your wellness. I’m going to do a whole post on the importance of water sometime soon but it can make a huge impact on your health and wellness. I take vitamins and supplements to help me feel and perform better. These are things that I am passionate and care about so on days when I don’t feel like doing anything I make it a point to drink eight glasses of water and take my supplements so I can feel like I accomplished something.
These are just four of the many small victories I try to recognize myself for on days when I am not feeling the best. Be kind to yourself and find ways to be victorious. What are some small victories you can give yourself credit for?
